Bungee Trampolines

The bungee trampoline is the latest form of trampoline fun, incorporating two bungee cords secured to a harness in which a person is strapped. The bungee trampoline allows the person to jump higher than an awe-inspiring 30 feet in the air.

Bungee trampolines are most prevalent at amusement parks because they require more space than a backyard might allow. Also, bungee trampolines make for great entertainment, and companies involved in the amusement industry consider the bungee trampoline a potential profit maker.

Spurred by the extreme sports craze, the bungee trampoline combines skydiving, gymnastics and bungee jumping. The use of bungee trampolines is safer than most trampolines because participants are securely strapped to the harness. Although they are thrust high into the air, they have a trampoline bed to land on.

The bungee trampoline comes equipped with a support structure with elevated steel arms. The cords extend from these arms to the harness, allowing the participant to safely perform flips or somersaults.

Many amusement parks have more than one bungee trampoline station, so upwards to six people can jump at one time, creating quite a visual presentation for onlookers.

Also different from the regular trampoline, bungee trampolines incorporate electricity to enhance the bouncing power. The kinetic energy from the downward fall is converted to a propelling force, which creates a higher jump and more airtime to perform a series of flips.

Bungee trampolines are spreading to more unthinkable places, like cruise ships, because of the fun they generate for all ages. Royal Caribbean boasts a bungee trampoline on the world’s longest stretched ship called the Enchantment of the Seas. Royal Caribbean inserted the bungee trampoline because of its economic impact along with trendy restaurants and suspension bridges. Expect a 45-minute wait to get a shot at the bungee trampoline on the Enchantment because of the long lines.

Places where an extreme sport is prevalent, such as ski slopes, are also incorporating bungee trampolines because of the customer base.

For the trampoline exercise enthusiast, the use of a standard bungee trampoline is practical. The cords strapped to the harness maintain stability and eliminate the possibility of falling off the trampoline without an enclosure. This bungee trampoline is not electrically powered and not geared for 30-feet jumps. The bungee trampoline apparatus has a bar high enough over the trampoline for the participant to exercise straight up and down (in similar fashion to the mini trampoline) without moving around the trampoline bed.
